
Acro Dance
Ages 6+
BEGINNING ACRO DANCE
RMDC utilizes the Acrobatic Arts curriculum. This class will focus on fundamental acrobatic technique. Students will learn such things as handstands, chin stands, forearm stands, cartwheels, bridges, balance, and contortion tricks. This class is great for students looking to enhance their agility, flexibility, and strength.
INTERMEDIATE ACRO DANCE
Teacher placement only. Examples of what dancers need to be placed in this class are:
Hold a variety of strength positions with good technique for at least 30 seconds
Balance in numerous ways for at least 10 seconds
Can reach down to a bridge (backbend)
Can do a kick over
Has a clean cartwheel on both sides and handstand
Can demonstrate a good foundation of flexibility
The class will focus progressing strength, limbering and tumbling to work towards walkovers and aerials.
Students should wear comfortable clothing they can move in, such as a leotard, and they must have their hair pulled back. Bare feet is required.
ADVANCED ACRO DANCE
Teacher placement only. Examples of what dancers need to be placed in this class are:
Hold a variety of strength positions with good technique for at least 40 seconds
Perform a chest stand for 5 seconds
Can reach down to a bridge and recover.
Kick Over from both sides
Has a clean one-handed cartwheel on both sides
Can perform a handstand to a chest roll
Can demonstrate improvement of their flexibility
The class will focus progressing strength, limbering and tumbling to work on walkover variations and aerials.
ULTRA ADVANCED ACRO DANCE
Teacher placement only. Examples of what dancers need to be placed in this class are:
Hold a variety of strength positions with good technique for at least 1 minute
Perform a variety of balancing positions for 10 seconds
Can perform bridge variations including Arabians & chest rolls
Valdez
Flying Cartwheel or Aerial
Back Handspring
Can demonstrate full splits in all 3 directions
The class will focus progressing strength, limbering and tumbling to refine technique and form in a variety of acro skills.
