Jazz: Headliner

JAZZ 1

Ages 7+

This is a beginning level class for ages 7-10. Students will extensively stretch in a warm up, with the goal of obtaining all 3 splits. They will learn basic terminology of leaping, turning, kicking, and stretching. They have the opportunity to perform in recitals after rehearsing choreography including the terms learned in their class.  

Dress Code: Students need to wear comfortable dance clothes and jazz shoes. Hair should be in a pony tail or bun.

JAZZ 2

Teacher Placement Only

Intermediate level for dancers who have successfully acquired basic jazz technique in Jazz 2. A focus on body isolation and rhythm helps develop the dancer in their jazz technique

Dress Code: Students need to wear comfortable dance clothes and jazz shoes. Hair should be in a pony tail or bun.

JAZZ 3

Teacher Placement Only

This class is structured to improve dancer's jazz technique with the focus on turns, leaps, kicks, and flexibility. Dancers must be able to complete a clean single pirouette on both sides as well as a variety of execute dance steps with correct technique.

Dress Code: Students need to wear comfortable dance clothes and jazz shoes. Hair should be in a pony tail or bun.

JAZZ 4

Teacher Placement Only

Dancers placed in this level dance must demonstrate a true understanding of technique and terminology. Dancers will be required to have solid, controlled doubles withthe ability to attempt a triple or have a triple turn. Straddle leaps must have all of the above with both legs
using proper rotation, and without dropping upper body.

Dress Code: Students need to wear comfortable dance clothes and jazz shoes. Hair should be in a pony tail or bun.

JAZZ 5

Teacher Placement Only

Dancers will be required to have solid and controlled doubles, with
more consistent triples. Dancers will be working towards quadruples as well. Must be able to demonstrate intermediate knowledge on

fouetté and a la’ second turns as well. 

Knowledge and ability to do Reverse/fouette leaps, front

leaps, ring leaps also required.

Dress Code: Students need to wear comfortable dance clothes and jazz shoes. Hair should be in a pony tail or bun.
